Emily Sutton

Global Brand Marketer

Emily Sutton is challenging one of society’s most overlooked truths: that friendship is not just a nice-to-have social connection, but one of the most vital forces shaping our identity, resilience, and long-term well-being. As a global brand marketing leader with over a decade of experience creating campaigns that drive cultural impact, she has learned that the most powerful human connections often happen outside the spotlight—and it’s time we started paying attention.

Emily’s expertise in understanding what moves people comes from her work with Fortune 500 brands including Google and Gap, where she has specialized in integrated go-to-market strategy, narrative development, and creative execution that resonates across global audiences. At Google, she helped lead some of the company’s most iconic brand efforts, including Year in Search, Google’s 25th Anniversary, global Pixel launches, and major product and equity initiatives that reached millions worldwide.

But it’s through her deep understanding of human connection and cultural influence that Emily has identified a critical gap in how we value relationships. While romantic partnerships and family bonds receive extensive cultural attention and support, friendships—despite being equally formative and often more enduring—remain undervalued and under-discussed. Her work in crafting narratives that create emotional resonance has revealed how friendship shapes our sense of self in ways we rarely acknowledge.

Originally from the South Bay, Emily has lived and worked across San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles, giving her unique insight into how friendship dynamics shift across different life stages and environments. She holds a degree in journalism and communications from the University of Oregon and currently lives in Hermosa Beach, where she’s an active member of Sandpipers, an all-women volunteer organization that exemplifies the power of purposeful friendship.

Emily’s mission is to elevate friendship from a casual social category to its rightful place as a cornerstone of human flourishing. Through her work and advocacy, she’s building a movement that recognizes friendship not as something that just happens to us, but as something we can intentionally cultivate to transform our lives and communities.
